Free Video Call Apps in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya (2026)

Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya are really one big urban area, the Klang Valley, with people from Malay, Chinese, Indian and many expat backgrounds. Conversations can move between English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese and Tamil in a single chat. A video call before meeting helps everyone feel more comfortable.

How people in the Klang Valley video call

WhatsApp is the default app in Malaysia for almost everything, from family groups to ordering food. That also means your WhatsApp number is linked to a lot of your life. With a new match, have your first call inside the dating app and share your number later.

Scams Malaysians should know

• Love scams. A charming profile that slowly builds trust, then needs money for customs fees, a parcel or a hospital bill.
• Macau scams. Callers pretending to be police, a bank or a court, saying your account is linked to a crime.
• Investment groups. A match who adds you to a "trading tips" group.

If you have lost money to a scam in Malaysia, call the National Scam Response Centre on 997 as soon as possible.

Meeting in person

Meet in a busy mall or café close to an LRT or MRT station: KLCC, Bukit Bintang, Bangsar, or in PJ around 1 Utama or Jaya One. Go home on your own, share your location with a friend, and leave whenever you want. For emergencies in Malaysia, call 999.

Using Meetoxx

Meetoxx is free on Google Play. Every profile confirms a phone number by OTP, messaging has no paywall, and you can video call inside the app without giving out your number. Read more on our free video call app page.
